What is Purpose?

Why do we feel the need to give our life a purpose? Let us first define "purpose";
a Purpose is "a result, end, goal, mean, aim, or action intentionally undertaken".
When we live with purpose in mind, then everything we do become a means to an end. With this mind, how do you think this sense of purpose changes our ability to be present within this moment? Can you fully focus on what is here without holding onto where you think you need to go? The present is ever changing, your defining purpose is not. Most people are fed the idea that if you know your purpose in this world, life will have meaning and you will find fulfillment. My question is, why aren't you finding your fulfillment without needing a purpose? Can you find fulfillment Now, without any goal, or aim, or action? Can you find it right here, right now? That is the understanding I'm talking about.

How does One become Free?

How does one become free? When we are free with-in, are we not free with-out? So how do we free our inner self? The mind is a funny thing. It thinks, it analyzes, it judges, it speculates, and it comes to conclusions. We formulate ideas, concepts, and beliefs in order to feel safe and secure with our self and the world. Seeking security within our mind makes us feel better dealing with uncertainty. But can a mind filled with conclusions ever be free? A mind full of pre-conceptions does not have the ability to investigate new ideas with a fresh uninfluenced mind. When we hold onto anything ,we are in-security and we will always be on the defense because we don't want to be unsure. Freedom requires us to let go completely. It is only when we surrender and let go that we can see things for what they really are, and it is only then that we can discover new things with an empty open mind. Let me give you an example. If I tell myself "I am a loveable person" and I believe it wholeheartedly, that is fine. Then one day a friend gets mad at me and tells me how much they hate me, which sends me into a manic depressive state. Why? I feel like a part of my world has fallen apart because I firmly believed that I was a lovable person. When my belief shattered, then I am left in the unknown once again. The problem in this example lies solely on what my belief was about myself. There is nothing wrong with believing in something, but understand that when you hold onto a belief, freedom becomes an idea and not an experience.

Being Me

Hello, my name is Melissa! Well, I had a heck of a time picking a blog title that wasn't taken already. Finally, I came across the title 'Being One Me'....and it was available! Like always, I find the symbolism in life very amusing. My first blog here is very informal, which means that I don't have a particular subject, just an beginning introduction to myself. I am 'setting the stage' so to speak. Firstly, I'm am blogging because I want to write more often; not only for my inner self reflection, but to express myself from a place within that is you and I and everything in between. We are all in this together, so I want to share the things that I experience and learn from for the benefit of everyone. My experiences effect you, just as much as your experiences effects me...we all have something to learn every moment if we just pay attention. On that note, I am a mommy so I have to sign off for now, but I look forward to the next post.
